Pine Wood Blocks Sanding
A lovely house in Swanage was a holding a treasureful of Pine wood block flooring on the majority of its ground floor. 1 inch thick blocks are a rare find these days especially in the basket weave format. Most probably the pine blocks have been situated in the property since the 1920’s to 1930’s and hadn’t been maintained since installation part from years of redcoats of varnish. Where the original pitch tar adhesive had lost bond with the sub floor we removed and reinstated the blocks with a modern equivalent adhesive to rebond to the floor securely into place again.
Large gaps were filled with saw dust mixed with hardening bonding agent. There were areas around doorways where the between rooms the adjoining areas were out of level due to settlement of the original concrete screed, but with our new state of the art sanding machines we able to smooth out the trasition between the rooms.
After sanding to highly fine finish, we applied OSMO Polyx-Oil ORIGINAL developed from natural oils and waxes to provide the most hardwearing and durable protection for wooden flooring.
